Here’s the link to Caity in the farm (if you’ve missed it).

Dad’s relative owns plenty of chickens, also game cocks (chicken used for cockfighting) much to Caity’s amusement.  She was so happy to see many chickens which she fondly chased around.

Running towards the chicken.
chickennnnn!
Yeeeehaaaaaa! Here I come!!!

O-oh! She fell on the ground and we all came rushing to her rescue including the one taking photos (ME!). That explains why there’s no pic of that.  I’m glad she wasn’t hurt at all.
uhuh!
No pain eh?

But just a little complaint…
my hands!!!
My hands are all dirty now.

Caity’s new friends:
the chicken

The guys taking care of these game cocks jokingly predicted that Caity might become a sabungera when she grows up coz she’s very fond of chickens.  Tag-iya guro sang manokan para asal! hehe

January 26th, 2009Caity in the farm

Yesterday we attended a burial of my dad’s relative in Bago. It’s a rural part of Negros Occidental located 21 kilometers south of Bacolod City.

Beside the cemetery was a wide piece of farmland. I think they have just harvested the rice crops. Anyway, the land was dry which made a good place for Caity to run around.

You can tell she’s ecstatic!

Big smile with food crumbs on her lips! =)

Exploring the farm…

Ma haciendera ka Caite?

Stumbling on a dead wild flower plant, oblivious to the animal grazing on the grass…

“Ano ni man?”

Posing…

“I like this place!”

She finally noticed the animal!
hala! ano na?
“Oh look! There’s an animal over there!”

pointing at the carabao
“What kind of an animal is that?”

It’s a carabao or water buffalo, the national animal of the Philippines. They help farmers in tilling the land. They are also used to haul farm produce to the market. They’re the farmers’ best friends!

Just some updates on Caity:
*I found out last week that she has two new molars growing, one on each sides at the lower part of her mouth. She has now a total of 8 teeth!
*She’s got the Sesame Street alphabets and numbers flashcards which she refers to as “two”. Two being the easiest word she can pronounce when we start to count off. She also calls her shoes “two”. Shoes, two. They almost sound the same sans the s. hehe
More words she can say:
Nose – noe
Eyes = eye
Ears = ea
Banana = nana
Apple = pol
Barney = baaa
Flower = fwawa
Water = kaka (how did it become kaka?)
and a lot more…

*Last December, she was fond of moving her head from side to side when she means no and lately she’s doing the action with a string of na, na, na… which sometimes sounds like na-a or ne.
*A couple of weeks ago she also learned how to nod her head when she means yes.
*She sends me flying to the moon with happiness everytime she kisses me on the cheek!!!
*Though she calls all men, papa and women, mama, she knows who auntie or uncle is or who papa or mommy is. Like when you tell her, “kiss auntie” or “give this to mommy” she knows who to go to and do what she’s asked to do.

Till next update!

January 19th, 2009The happy baby at the beach

Caity was seven months old when she first experienced being in the beach. That was during our first trip to the Philippines for the year 2008. It was the second day of spring when we left Prague that time, still cold! Anyway, as you can see below, she was still crawling then.

Eight months after, she’s back in the Philippines again and in the same beach already walking and running on the sand!

lael and caity

Who is Lael? He is Caity’s second degree cousin. Lael’s mom happens to be my cousin. Lael with her grandparents, uncle, auntie, mom and big sister visited us for a few days all the way from Iligan last December and spent New Year with us too.

These series of photos were taken when we dined out at Chicken Deli:
