Welcome to the Toy Museum!

The museum also have vintage toys such as dolls, trains, boats, etc. some of which are part of the family collection of the film-maker and caricaturist Ivan Steiger. It was nice to see toys from decades back made in top quality and craftsmanship, unlike the mass-produced toys we have these days that are mostly made of plastics. (It will be a different post!)

It seems like these are national costumes around the world.

Anyway, even if we were not Barbie fans, we still enjoyed the vast exhibit of various Barbies throughout the years. Coz you know, there were different themes and collections. It was  such a delight to spot famous characters like Snow White, West Life, superheroes, political figures among a sea full of Barbies.

There are more pictures to post, so I’ll make part 2, and maybe even part 3 of 50 years of Barbie!

Caity saw her picture in my blog’s post which triggered her to ask me to get the dogs from the bedroom. When I came back, I asked her to pose for me. She surprisingly obliged knowing she just woke up from a nap, I was expecting a big NO for a reply, but I guess it was my lucky day! (:

The dark brown dog is her little bro’s but she borrows it a lot coz she just love dogs!

She then huddled beside me to look at the pictures in the camera.  “Let me see, Mama, let me see!”.

We were both satisfied with the outcome so I asked told her to pose some more. I was unfortunate this time coz she complained already and was grumpy hahaha… caught it on cam!

“Enough Mama! Enough!”

Earlier on her afternoon nap, she took the stuffed dog and said, “Doggie’s cold,” and hugged him to sleep.  So cute!

More than a decade ago, the government adopted a Philippine Plan of Action for Children in order to realize a child-sensitive society. Congress recognized children as a basic sector distinct from youth and students.

There are numerous laws and programs that promote the welfare of children. But children remain the most vulnerable sector in Philippine society. They are the most affected during natural and man-made calamities. About 43.3 percent of the country’s population are children.

More than 4 million families are subsisting below the poverty line. Almost 10 million children are undernourished. Most children are suffering from micronutrient malnutrition. Only 33 percent of children are enrolled in daycare and preschool institutions in the country. More than 1 million children of elementary school age are not enrolled.

This is the reason why a couple of Filipino bloggers are encouraging politicians to promote child-friendly governance in all areas.

Spreading the word about the true state of Filipino children in the blogosphere is one way of raising awareness and solicit support. By holding a contest such as this one, will also make it more rewarding for bloggers to join the movement. The contest officially start today (25 September 2008) and will run for a month.

HOW TO ENTER

Entering is simple. Earn points by completing certain tasks. The more entries collected, the better chance of spreading the word about the Filipino children and also of winning some Entrecard Credits! So, if you complete a lot of things as opposed to doing just one, your chances of winning will be greatly increased.

Just make sure to keep track of how many points you have earned and post a comment HERE to inform the organizers about your efforts.

It is also important that all relevant words, phrases and blog titles are linked back to the original source. Well, everything you can link to anyway.

DURATION

The contest will run for a month, 25 September 2008 until 25 October 2008. At the end of the 30 days, entries will be tallied and raffle draws will be made using a random system. Winners will be announced on 30 October 2008.

These were yesterday’s pictures. I thought that she stepped on the big teddy which was sitting beside the sofa chair in climbing up, so M took it away. But I was wrong, she reached the chair without it.

The climbing action doesn’t end there, she tried somewhere else with success – the footboard desk!

Today, it was the plastic box…

and she even gave me a mischievous smile!

Then she was back for more action!

And was getting more adventurous!

Whew! Tough days are coming!

By the way, on Sunday Caity walked her first few steps.  She was holding on to me and I slowly let go of her hand and she walked two steps towards me.  I did it again, and she took three hurried steps towards me.  Yipeee! Okay moms out there, don’t give me a smug smile and tell me that your child was able to walk before he or she turned one. Children will all learn how to walk at some point in their lives.
